SmartCards
More to them than meets the
eye!
Response
to NASG's new SmartCards has been very positive and sales during the introductory
period have gone well. The original brief was to provide information for
new governors and for governors who do not have a background in education.
But we are learning that they are proving useful in other ways too. For
example, several schools have bought a set for every member of their governing
body - this could be because they are working to improve their effectiveness
or because they have identified specific areas of weakness in their practices.
So, we suggest that SmartCards can be used in the following ways:
- As a reassuring
introduction to governing for new governors
- As information
for governors who are new to the mysteries of the education system
- As an
aid to improving performance of the whole governing body
- As an
aid to improving performance or understanding in specific areas eg finance,
development planning or pupils' attainment
- As a starting
point for tackling difficulties eg the head's report, contributing appropriately
at meetings
- As a training
aid.
SmartCards
are available either in complete sets of ten cards or in packs of ten
of one particular card. Both are the same price - £7.50 per pack including
P&P; or £13.50 for two packs and £6.50 per pack for larger quantities.
To order, contact the NASG office , tel: 0121 643 5787, fax: 0121 633
7141.
NASG
SmartCards are supported by the BEST Underwriting Agency which provides
Schools’ Staff Absence Insurance and Management and shares our commitment
to offering clear accessible information and advice to schools, heads
and governors.
